Verbs are words such as iak 'go,' daak. 'to sit,' reubah<br />

'to fall,' lumpoe 'to dream,' sanoka 'to think,' and many<br />

other words describing all kinds of activities. Some verbs<br />

are non-derived, such as kalon 'to see,' paioh 'to eat,'<br />

etc., and some others are derived from nouns, adjectives,<br />

and other words. The following section will give a brief<br />

discussion on verb derivation. •*<br />

2.2.1 Verb Derivation<br />

There are four important prefixes and one infix used to<br />

form verbs from nouns, adjectives, and other words. They are<br />

meu-. peu-. teu-. tu-. and -eum-. In addition to these, some<br />

verbs are also derived with the prefixes gi~, keu-. and<br />

pronominal prefixes.<br />

Almost all derived verbs belong to verbs of Class 1, as<br />
