ip domain-lookup CONFIGURATION Enable dynamic resolution of host names.<br />

ip name-server ip-address<br />

To view current bindings, use <strong>the</strong> show hosts command.<br />

CONFIGURATION Specify up to 6 name servers. The order you entered<br />

<strong>the</strong> servers determines <strong>the</strong> order of <strong>the</strong>ir use.<br />

<strong>Force10</strong>><br />

To view <strong>the</strong> current configuration, use <strong>the</strong> show running-config resolve command.<br />

Specify local system domain and a list of domains<br />

If you enter a partial domain, <strong>FTOS</strong> can search different domains to finish or fully qualify that partial<br />

domain. A fully qualified domain name (FQDN) is any name that is terminated with a period/dot. <strong>FTOS</strong><br />

searches <strong>the</strong> host table first to resolve <strong>the</strong> partial domain. The host table contains both statically configured<br />

and dynamically learnt host and IP addresses. If <strong>FTOS</strong> cannot resolve <strong>the</strong> domain, it tries <strong>the</strong> domain name<br />

assigned to <strong>the</strong> local system. If that does not resolve <strong>the</strong> partial domain, <strong>FTOS</strong> searches <strong>the</strong> list of domains<br />

configured<br />

To configure a domain name, use <strong>the</strong> following command in <strong>the</strong> CONFIGURATION mode:<br />
