Configuring PIM-SM<br />

Configuring PIM-SM is a two-step process:<br />

1. Enable multicast routing using <strong>the</strong> command ip multicast-routing from CONFIGURATION mode.<br />

2. Enable PIM-SM on an interface. See page 629.<br />

Enabling PIM-SM<br />

You must enable PIM-SM on each participating interface:<br />

Enable PIM-Sparse Mode ip pim sparse-mode INTERFACE<br />

Display which interfaces are enabled with PIM-SM using <strong>the</strong> command show ip pim interface from<br />

EXEC Privilege mode, as shown in Figure 442.<br />

Note: You can influence <strong>the</strong> selection of <strong>the</strong> Rendezvous Point by enabling PIM-Sparse Mode on a<br />
