5 When <strong>the</strong> upgrade process is complete, you<br />

can leave <strong>the</strong> system as is. The new boot code<br />

loads upon <strong>the</strong> next power-cycle of <strong>the</strong> RPM or<br />

system. You can also reset <strong>the</strong> primary RPM<br />

immediately to see if <strong>the</strong> boot code<br />

downloaded successfully.<br />

6 Verify that <strong>the</strong> upgrade is successful, as shown<br />

in Figure 506 <strong>for</strong> RPMs and Figure 507 <strong>for</strong> line<br />

cards.<br />

Upgrading using a Different <strong>FTOS</strong> Image<br />

To upgrade using a boot image o<strong>the</strong>r than <strong>the</strong> one packed with <strong>the</strong> currently running <strong>FTOS</strong> image, you first<br />

download <strong>the</strong> boot code from <strong>the</strong> appropriate <strong>FTOS</strong> image, and <strong>the</strong>n upgrade <strong>the</strong> boot code.<br />

Note: This upgrade procedure assumes that RPM 0 is <strong>the</strong> primary RPM.<br />

To upgrade <strong>the</strong> boot code using a different <strong>FTOS</strong> image:<br />

reset rpm hard EXEC Privilege<br />

show {rpm | linecard} EXEC Privilege<br />

1 Upgrade <strong>the</strong> boot code using one of <strong>the</strong><br />

following keywords:<br />

• Upgrade <strong>the</strong> entire system (primary RPM<br />

and all line cards) using <strong>the</strong> keyword all.<br />

You must still complete <strong>the</strong> remainder of<br />

this procedure.<br />

• Upgrade a single line card using <strong>the</strong><br />

keyword linecard, or all line cards using <strong>the</strong><br />

keywords linecard all.<br />

• Upgrade <strong>the</strong> RPM using <strong>the</strong> keyword rpm.<br />

Specify <strong>the</strong> location of <strong>the</strong> <strong>FTOS</strong> image that<br />

contains <strong>the</strong> bootflash image to which you are<br />

upgrading.<br />

upgrade bootflash-image {all |<br />

linecard [all] | rpm} file-url<br />

EXEC Privilege<br />

Warning: Do not reset or remove <strong>the</strong> component you are upgrading during <strong>the</strong> upgrade process. The<br />

upgrade process takes approximately 10 minutes.<br />

Note: Steps 2 -4 are not required if you have only one RPM installed.<br />
