Upgrading the Boot Flash Image
Sometimes a boot flash image (boot code) upgrade is required when upgrading the FTOS image. Read the
release notes to determine when you need to upgrade.
In some cases the system notifies you when you must upgrade. For example, a boot code upgrade is
required when upgrading the C-Series to FTOS version 7.5.1.0, and the system displays Message 32 if an
upgrade is required for partition A, partition B, or both.
Message 32 Boot Flash Upgrade Required
%RPM0-P:CP %DOWNLOAD-5-NEEDUPGRADE: Detected cp boot flash A and B's version lower than 2.4.1.1.
It is mandatory to upgrade boot flash to 2.4.1.1 or above for system image version 7.2.1.0 or above.
This procedure is only for platforms c e
There are two methods for upgrading the boot code:
1. Upgrade using the boot flash image packed with the currently running FTOS image. Use the command
show os-version to view the boot codes that are packed with the FTOS image (Figure 505), and
compare it to the one that is required. If they do not match, you must upgrade using a bootflash image
packed with another FTOS image.
