For <strong>the</strong> router’s identifier, <strong>FTOS</strong> uses <strong>the</strong> highest IP address of <strong>the</strong> Loopback interfaces configured. Since<br />

Loopback interfaces are virtual, <strong>the</strong>y cannot go down, thus preventing changes in <strong>the</strong> router ID. If no<br />

Loopback interfaces are configured, <strong>the</strong> highest IP address of any interface is used as <strong>the</strong> router ID.<br />

To view <strong>the</strong> status of BGP neighbors, use <strong>the</strong> show ip bgp neighbors (Figure 346) command in EXEC<br />

Privilege mode. For BGP neighbor configuration in<strong>for</strong>mation, use <strong>the</strong> show running-config bgp<br />

command in EXEC Privilege mode (Figure 347). Note that <strong>the</strong> showconfig command in<br />

CONFIGURATION ROUTER BGP mode gives <strong>the</strong> same in<strong>for</strong>mation as <strong>the</strong>w show running-config<br />

bgp.<br />

Figure 346 displays two neighbors, one is an external and <strong>the</strong> second one is an internal BGP neighbor. The<br />

first line of <strong>the</strong> output <strong>for</strong> each neighbor displays <strong>the</strong> AS number and states whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> link is an external<br />

or internal.<br />
