Configuring <strong>the</strong> PVST+ refresh interval<br />

Max-age is <strong>the</strong> length of time <strong>the</strong> PVST+ bridge maintains configuration in<strong>for</strong>mation be<strong>for</strong>e it refreshes<br />

that in<strong>for</strong>mation. To change <strong>the</strong> max-age value in seconds, use <strong>the</strong> following command in <strong>the</strong> PVST+<br />

CONFIGURATION mode:<br />

To configure max-age, use <strong>the</strong> commands as shown in <strong>the</strong> example below:<br />

Configuring port cost<br />

conf-pvst Changes <strong>the</strong> time interval be<strong>for</strong>e PVST+<br />

refreshes.<br />

Enter <strong>the</strong> keyword max-age followed by <strong>the</strong> time<br />

interval, in seconds, that <strong>FTOS</strong> waits be<strong>for</strong>e refreshing<br />

configuration in<strong>for</strong>mation.<br />

Range: 6 to 40 seconds<br />

Default: 20 seconds<br />

<strong>Force10</strong>’s PVST+ implementation uses IEEE MST costs as <strong>the</strong> default costs. Ensure you use <strong>the</strong><br />

appropriate costs in a multi-vendor network as some implementations use IEEE STP costs as <strong>the</strong> default<br />

costs. The default PVST+ costs are listed below.<br />
