configure a Syslog server
You can configure a BSD or SunOS UNIX system as a Syslog server. For system messages to be stored on
a Syslog server, you must configure the syslog.conf file in the Syslog server and assign write permission
to the file.
The following examples configure a Syslog daemon for messages up to the debugging level in two
different operating systems:
• for a 4.1 BSD UNIX system, include this line in the /etc/syslog.conf file
local7.debugging /var/log/force10.log
• for a 5.7 SunOS UNIX system, include this line in the /etc/syslog.conf file
local7.debugging /var/adm/force10.log
