To enter <strong>the</strong> LINE mode to configure a terminal connection, use one of <strong>the</strong> following commands in <strong>the</strong><br />

CONFIGURATION mode:<br />

Command Syntax Command Mode Purpose<br />

line aux 0 CONFIGURATION Enter <strong>the</strong> LINE mode to configure an auxiliary<br />

terminal line.<br />

line console 0 CONFIGURATION Enter <strong>the</strong> LINE mode <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> console port.<br />

line vty number [end-number] CONFIGURATION Enter <strong>the</strong> LINE mode to configure virtual<br />

terminals. <strong>FTOS</strong> supports up to 10 virtual<br />

terminals <strong>for</strong> Telnet sessions. Specify a number<br />

from 0 to 9 <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> virtual terminal.<br />

To configure multiple virtual terminals, enter an<br />

end number. For example, to enter and<br />

configure virtual terminals 0 through 3, enter<br />

line vty 0 3.<br />

To view <strong>the</strong> current configuration <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> terminal connection, enter show config in <strong>the</strong> LINE mode.<br />

Figure 35 shows <strong>the</strong> configuration <strong>for</strong> three virtual terminal lines.<br />

You cannot delete a terminal connection.<br />

To configure and assign an IP ACL to a line, use <strong>the</strong>se commands in <strong>the</strong> following sequence, starting in <strong>the</strong><br />

CONFIGURATION mode:<br />
