set SNMP in<strong>for</strong>mation<br />

To set <strong>the</strong> contact and location in<strong>for</strong>mation, use ei<strong>the</strong>r or both of <strong>the</strong> following commands in <strong>the</strong><br />

CONFIGURATION mode:<br />

Command Syntax Command Mode Purpose<br />

snmp-server contact text CONFIGURATION Specify a name or phone number up to 55<br />

characters. Do not use spaces.<br />

snmp-server location text CONFIGURATION Specify <strong>the</strong> location of <strong>the</strong> system with up to 255<br />

alphanumeric characters. Do not use spaces.<br />

To view <strong>the</strong> SNMP configuration, use <strong>the</strong> show running-config snmp command (Figure 38) in <strong>the</strong> EXEC<br />

mode. O<strong>the</strong>r SNMP commands (<strong>for</strong> details, see Chapter 7, SNMP and Syslog Commands, in <strong>the</strong> <strong>FTOS</strong><br />

Command Line Interface Reference) include:<br />

• show snmp: View <strong>the</strong> status of SNMP network elements.<br />

• show snmp engineID: View <strong>the</strong> identification of <strong>the</strong> local SNMP engine and all remote engines that<br />

are configured on <strong>the</strong> router.<br />

• show snmp group: Display <strong>the</strong> group name, security model, view status, and storage type of each<br />

group.<br />

• show snmp user: View <strong>the</strong> in<strong>for</strong>mation configured on each SNMP user name.<br />

• snmp-server engineID: Configure name <strong>for</strong> both <strong>the</strong> local and remote SNMP engines on <strong>the</strong> router.<br />

• snmp-server group: Configure a new SNMP group or a table that maps SNMP users to SNMP views.<br />

• snmp-server user: Configure a new user to an SNMP group.<br />

• snmp-server view:snmp-server view Configure an SNMPv3 view.<br />

• snmp trap link-status: Enable <strong>the</strong> interface to send SNMP link traps, which indicate whe<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong><br />

interface is up or down.<br />

Copying <strong>Configuration</strong> Files Using SNMP<br />

Use SNMP from a remote client to:<br />

• copy <strong>the</strong> running-config file to <strong>the</strong> startup-config file, or<br />

• copy configuration files from <strong>the</strong> <strong>Force10</strong> system to a server<br />

• copy configuration files from a server to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Force10</strong> system<br />
