Upgrading <strong>the</strong> FPGA on <strong>the</strong> SFM<br />

Only active SFMs can be upgraded, and an SFM reset is required on upgraded SFMs after <strong>the</strong> upgrade.<br />

Only one SFM upgrade operation can be initialized at any given time. If an upgrade request is made while<br />

one is already in progress, <strong>the</strong> system displays Message 35.<br />

To upgrade <strong>the</strong> FPGA image <strong>the</strong> SFM:<br />

Step Task Command Command Mode<br />

1 Upgrade one or all SFM FPGA images. upgrade sfm [slot | all ] [autoreset]<br />

• Enter <strong>the</strong> keyword autoreset to<br />

invoke a dialog that prompts you to<br />

reset all of <strong>the</strong> relevant SFMs. This<br />

relieves you of having to execute<br />

separate reset command after <strong>the</strong><br />

upgrade.<br />

2 Enter YES at <strong>the</strong> prompt to proceed with <strong>the</strong> upgrade<br />

3 When <strong>the</strong> upgrade is complete,<br />

• If you entered <strong>the</strong> keyword<br />

autoreset in Step 1, after <strong>the</strong><br />

upgrade is complete, enter YES at<br />

<strong>the</strong> prompt to reset all SFMs.<br />

• If you did not use <strong>the</strong> keyword<br />

autoreset in Step 1, reset all<br />

upgraded SFMs using <strong>the</strong> command<br />

shown.<br />

Note: You must reset <strong>the</strong> SFMs so that <strong>the</strong>y can upload <strong>the</strong> new FPGA image. If <strong>the</strong> all option is<br />

selected in Step 1 or Step 3, <strong>the</strong> entire switch fabric is brought down, and traffic flow is disrupted.<br />

Figure 515 shows <strong>the</strong> output of <strong>the</strong> command upgrade sfm command using <strong>the</strong> autoreset option.<br />
