Configuring Action List (Event-based Type-5) Messages<br />

This is an optional task that you can per<strong>for</strong>m to have FTSA ga<strong>the</strong>r in<strong>for</strong>mation relevant to certain<br />

conditions. To use this feature, you have two basic tasks:<br />

• Configuring contact in<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>for</strong> Action List (type-5) messages on page 662<br />

• Configuring FTSA event handling on page 662<br />

These are type-5 messages; see Figure 467 on page 667. Note that FTSA cannot send emails <strong>for</strong> events<br />

when <strong>the</strong> chassis restarts, such as failover, reboot, and RPM over-temperature.<br />

Configuring contact in<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>for</strong> Action List (type-5) messages<br />

You have <strong>the</strong> option of having <strong>the</strong> Action List messages include various types of contact in<strong>for</strong>mation.<br />

While you can configure <strong>the</strong> contact fields to contain o<strong>the</strong>r strings of characters than were intended in <strong>the</strong><br />

design, be advised that <strong>the</strong> message <strong>for</strong>mat uses XML tags to surround each field, and <strong>the</strong> tag names<br />

emulate <strong>the</strong> field names, <strong>for</strong> example .<br />

Configuring FTSA event handling<br />

Enter a customer contact address (up to 100<br />

characters).<br />

Enter a customer contact email address.<br />

Note: This is not <strong>the</strong> address to which FTSA<br />

messages will be sent. (See Designating recipients of<br />

FTSA email messages on page 657).<br />

Enter a customer contact name (up to 25 characters).<br />

Enter comments to be included in <strong>the</strong> configuration<br />

database and in Action List messages.<br />

Enter a a customer phone number.<br />

After executing <strong>the</strong> call-home command, as above, to enter <strong>the</strong> CONFIGURATION (conf-callhome)<br />

mode, you can use <strong>the</strong> following procedure to create a policy that consists of a matched set of tests and<br />

actions, and, optionally, a case number. The act of creating <strong>the</strong> policy also enables it.<br />

You can use <strong>the</strong> procedure up to three times to have three concurrent policies running. You can <strong>the</strong>n ei<strong>the</strong>r<br />

disable a policy or modify it.<br />
