• Multiple Port Monitoring Sessions and Multiple Monitored Interfaces to a Single Monitoring
Interface: The C-Series Port Monitoring feature is extended with support for up to five
monitored source interfaces to one monitoring destination interface and support for up to
five monitoring groups at one time. See Port Monitoring on page 175.
• PoE Enhancements to Support Priority and Power Requirements from LLDP-MED Enabled
Phones: The FTOS Power over Ethernet implementation is enhanced with LLDP-MED features
required to deploy VoIP phone systems. FTOS now supports the Extended Power-via-MDI TLV
needed to enable dynamic power allocation and priority based on the device requirements. See Link
Layer Discovery Protocol on page 283 and Chapter 33, Power over Ethernet, on page 641.
• User Configurable Buffer Settings: Buffer tuning commands are used to change the default way a
switch/router allocates packet buffers from its available memory, and helps prevent packet drops
during a temporary burst of traffic. See C-Series Debugging and Diagnostics on page 689.
Revisions in this Edition
• The FVRP chapter is removed. The commands have been removed from the FTOS code. The FVRP
feature set, a legacy ring protocol, has been removed from FTOS. The Force10 Resilient Ring Protocol
(FRRP) is a replacement for FVRP that offers faster convergence and more flexibility. See Force 10
Resilient Ring Protocol on page 489.
• The ip access-group command is not supported on the loopback interfaces of C-Series and S-Series.
