To view whe<strong>the</strong>r NTP is configured on <strong>the</strong> interface, use <strong>the</strong> show config command in <strong>the</strong> INTERFACE<br />

mode. If ntp disable is not listed in <strong>the</strong> show config command output, <strong>the</strong>n NTP is enabled. (The show<br />

config command displays only nondefault configuration in<strong>for</strong>mation.)<br />

configure a source IP address <strong>for</strong> NTP packets<br />

By default, <strong>the</strong> source address of NTP packets is <strong>the</strong> IP address of <strong>the</strong> interface used to reach <strong>the</strong> network.<br />

You can configure one interface’s IP address to be included in all NTP packets.<br />

To configure an IP address as <strong>the</strong> source address of NTP packets, use <strong>the</strong> following command in <strong>the</strong><br />

CONFIGURATION mode:<br />

Command Syntax Command Mode Purpose<br />

ntp source interface CONFIGURATION Enter <strong>the</strong> following keywords and slot/port or number in<strong>for</strong>mation:<br />

• For a 1-Gigabit E<strong>the</strong>rnet interface, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword<br />

GigabitE<strong>the</strong>rnet followed by <strong>the</strong> slot/port in<strong>for</strong>mation.<br />

• For a loopback interface, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword loopback<br />

followed by a number between 0 and 16383.<br />

• For a port channel interface, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword lag followed<br />

by a number from 1 to 255 <strong>for</strong> TeraScale, 1 to 32 <strong>for</strong><br />

E<strong>the</strong>rScale.<br />

• For a SONET interface, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword sonet followed by<br />

<strong>the</strong> slot/port in<strong>for</strong>mation.<br />

• For a 10-Gigabit E<strong>the</strong>rnet interface, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword<br />

TenGigabitE<strong>the</strong>rnet followed by <strong>the</strong> slot/port in<strong>for</strong>mation.<br />

• For a VLAN interface, enter <strong>the</strong> keyword vlan followed by a<br />

number from 1 to 4094.<br />

To view <strong>the</strong> configuration, use <strong>the</strong> show running-config ntp command (Figure 28) in <strong>the</strong> EXEC privilege<br />

mode.<br />

File Transfer Services<br />

With <strong>FTOS</strong>, you can configure <strong>the</strong> system to transfer files over <strong>the</strong> network using File Transfer Protocol<br />

(FTP). One FTP application is copying <strong>the</strong> system image files over an interface on to <strong>the</strong> system; however,<br />

FTP is not supported on VLAN interfaces.<br />
