When <strong>the</strong> VRRP process completes its initialization, <strong>the</strong> State field contains ei<strong>the</strong>r Master or Backup.<br />

Set priority <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> vrrp group<br />

When you set <strong>the</strong> priority of a virtual router to 255 (see Assign virtual IP addresses on page 433), that<br />

virtual router becomes <strong>the</strong> OWNER virtual router <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> VRRP group. VRRP elects <strong>the</strong> MASTER router<br />

by choosing <strong>the</strong> router with <strong>the</strong> highest priority. You configure <strong>the</strong> priority of <strong>the</strong> virtual router or you can<br />

leave it at <strong>the</strong> default value of 100.<br />
