The do Command<br />

Enter an EXEC mode command from any CONFIGURATION mode (CONFIGURATION, INTERFACE,<br />

SPANNING TREE, etc.) without returning to EXEC mode by preceding <strong>the</strong> EXEC mode command with<br />

<strong>the</strong> command do. Figure 4 illustrates <strong>the</strong> do command.<br />

Note: The following commands cannot be modified by <strong>the</strong> do command: enable, disable, exit, and<br />

configure.<br />

When you enter a command, <strong>the</strong> command line is added to <strong>the</strong> running configuration file. Disable a<br />

command and remove it from <strong>the</strong> running-config by entering <strong>the</strong> original command preceded by <strong>the</strong><br />

command no. For example, to delete an ip address configured on an interface, use <strong>the</strong> no ip address<br />

ip-address command, as shown in Figure 5.<br />

Note: Use <strong>the</strong> help command to help you construct <strong>the</strong> “no” <strong>for</strong>m of a command.<br />
