To view <strong>the</strong> configuration, enter <strong>the</strong> show config command in <strong>the</strong> LINE mode. To view <strong>the</strong> status of <strong>the</strong><br />

ACL, enter <strong>the</strong> show ip accounting access-list access-list-name command.<br />

<strong>FTOS</strong> Behavior: Prior to <strong>FTOS</strong> version 7.4.2.0, in order to deny access on a VTY line, you must apply<br />

an ACL and AAA au<strong>the</strong>ntication to <strong>the</strong> line. Then users are denied access only after <strong>the</strong>y enter a<br />

username and password. Beginning in <strong>FTOS</strong> version 7.4.2.0, only an ACL is required, and users are<br />

denied access be<strong>for</strong>e <strong>the</strong>y are prompted <strong>for</strong> a username and password.<br />

configure privilege<br />

There is no default privilege level <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> terminal lines.<br />

To set a privilege level <strong>for</strong> terminal lines, use <strong>the</strong> following command in <strong>the</strong> LINE mode:<br />

privilege level level LINE Configure a level <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> terminal line.<br />

Range 0 to 15. The highest level is 15.<br />

To view <strong>the</strong> configuration, use <strong>the</strong> show config command in <strong>the</strong> LINE mode.<br />

To return to <strong>the</strong> default setting (that is, no privilege level assigned to <strong>the</strong> terminal lines), enter no privilege<br />

level in <strong>the</strong> LINE mode.<br />

configure password and login au<strong>the</strong>ntication<br />

Use passwords and login au<strong>the</strong>ntication to configure access according to different user needs while<br />

protecting <strong>the</strong> system. Users access certain commands by using passwords and login au<strong>the</strong>ntication and <strong>the</strong><br />

privilege command.<br />

To configure a password and assign login au<strong>the</strong>ntication to a terminal connection, use <strong>the</strong>se commands in<br />

<strong>the</strong> following sequence, starting in <strong>the</strong> CONFIGURATION mode:<br />

CONFIGURATION State that all terminal lines use <strong>the</strong><br />

LINE mode password <strong>for</strong><br />

Set a login au<strong>the</strong>ntication scheme <strong>for</strong><br />

terminal lines by specifying a<br />

method-list-name. The name is<br />

configured in this command must be<br />

<strong>the</strong> same name used in Step 3.<br />

To configure <strong>the</strong> default login<br />

au<strong>the</strong>ntication scheme, use <strong>the</strong> default<br />

keyword.<br />
