PVST+ EdgePort Behavior<br />

<strong>FTOS</strong> uses PortFast to speed up <strong>the</strong> connectivity between end stations. When STP discards all user data<br />

be<strong>for</strong>e it puts a port into <strong>for</strong>warding state, it may cause a delay. To eliminate this delay, PortFast eliminates<br />

<strong>the</strong> STP topology change between learning and <strong>for</strong>warding states be<strong>for</strong>e moving a port from blocking state<br />

to <strong>for</strong>warding state.<br />

Implementation In<strong>for</strong>mation<br />

Enabling PVST+<br />

By default, PVST+ is not enabled in <strong>FTOS</strong>. To enable PVST+ globally in <strong>FTOS</strong>, use <strong>the</strong>se commands in<br />

<strong>the</strong> following sequence, starting in <strong>the</strong> PVST+ CONFIGURATION mode:<br />
