Chapter 34 Force10 Service Agent Force10 Service Agent is supported only on platforms: c e The Force10 Service Agent (FTSA), commonly called a call-home service, resides on the switch (installed as part of FTOS on C-Series and E-Series) and collects information from the chassis, constructs system-monitoring email messages, and sends the messages to Force10 Support (Technical Assistance Center — TAC) and/or other designated recipients. Starting with FTOS 7.7.1.0, FTSA can collect system status details in event-driven messages, in addition to periodic messages containing hardware and software inventory information. This chapter covers the following topics: • Configuring FTSA on page 655 • Using FTSA on page 661 • Interpreting Email Messages from FTSA on page 665 • Using FTSA Show Commands on page 670 • Debugging FTSA on page 671 Configuring FTSA FTSA requires minimal configuration to get it running at a basic level. After starting FTSA, you must designate an SMTP server that receives and forwards the email messages from the switch, and you must designate an Administrator email address. All other FTSA configuration tasks are optional, but you would typically want to perform them so that the full FTSA messaging functionality is enabled.
