To configure an SNMP host to store traps, use <strong>the</strong>se commands in <strong>the</strong> following sequence in <strong>the</strong><br />

CONFIGURATION mode:<br />

CONFIGURATION In ip-address, enter an IP address of <strong>the</strong><br />

device to store <strong>the</strong> SNMP traps. Configure<br />

at least one of <strong>the</strong> following parameters:<br />

• traps: (OPTIONAL) Enable all traps.<br />

• in<strong>for</strong>ms: (OPTIONAL) Enter this<br />

keyword to send in<strong>for</strong>m notifications to<br />

<strong>the</strong> specified host.<br />

• version: (OPTIONAL) Enter <strong>the</strong> keyword<br />

followed by ei<strong>the</strong>r 1 or 2c. If nei<strong>the</strong>r is<br />

entered, <strong>the</strong> default is 1.<br />

• auth: (OPTIONAL) Enter <strong>the</strong> keyword to<br />

specify au<strong>the</strong>ntication of a packet<br />

without encryption.<br />

• noauth: (OPTIONAL) Enter <strong>the</strong> keyword<br />

to specify no au<strong>the</strong>ntication of a packet.<br />

• priv: (OPTIONAL) Enter <strong>the</strong> keyword to<br />

specify both au<strong>the</strong>ntication and <strong>the</strong>n<br />

scrambling of <strong>the</strong> packet.<br />

• community-string: (OPTIONAL) Enter a<br />

text string. You can also enter one of <strong>the</strong><br />

optional notification types (bgp,<br />

envmon, snmp). Note: For version 1<br />

and version 2c security models, this<br />

string represents <strong>the</strong> name of <strong>the</strong> SNMP<br />

community. While <strong>the</strong> string can be set<br />

using this command, it is recommended<br />

that you set <strong>the</strong> community string using<br />

<strong>the</strong> snmp-server community command<br />

be<strong>for</strong>e executing this command. For <strong>the</strong><br />

version 3 security model, this string is<br />

<strong>the</strong> USM user security name.<br />

• udp-port: (OPTIONAL) Enter <strong>the</strong><br />

keyword followed by <strong>the</strong> port number of<br />

<strong>the</strong> remote host to use. Range: 0 to<br />

65535. Default: 162<br />

• notification-type: (OPTIONAL) Enter one<br />

of <strong>the</strong> following keywords as <strong>the</strong> type of<br />

trap to be sent to <strong>the</strong> host:<br />

•bgp - allow BGP state change traps<br />

•envmon - allow environment monitor<br />

traps<br />

•snmp - allow SNMP-type notification<br />

(RFC 1157) traps<br />

Default: All trap types are sent to host<br />
