Change LOCAL_PREFERENCE attribute<br />

In <strong>FTOS</strong>, you can change <strong>the</strong> value of <strong>the</strong> LOCAL_PREFERENCE attribute.<br />

Use <strong>the</strong> following command in <strong>the</strong> CONFIGURATION ROUTER BGP mode to change <strong>the</strong> default values<br />

of this attribute <strong>for</strong> all routes received by <strong>the</strong> router.<br />

Command Syntax Command Mode Purpose<br />

bgp default local-preference<br />

value<br />

Use <strong>the</strong> show config command in CONFIGURATION ROUTER BGP mode or <strong>the</strong> show<br />

running-config bgp command in EXEC Privilege mode to view BGP configuration.<br />

A more flexible method <strong>for</strong> manipulating <strong>the</strong> LOCAL_PREF attribute value is to use a route map.<br />

Use <strong>the</strong>se commands in <strong>the</strong> following sequence, starting CONFIGURATION mode to change <strong>the</strong> default<br />

value of <strong>the</strong> LOCAL_PREF attribute <strong>for</strong> specific routes.<br />

To view <strong>the</strong> BGP configuration, use <strong>the</strong> show config command in <strong>the</strong> CONFIGURATION ROUTER<br />

BGP mode. To view a route map configuration, use <strong>the</strong> show route-map command in EXEC Privilege<br />

mode.<br />

Change NEXT_HOP attribute<br />

You can change how <strong>the</strong> NEXT_HOP attribute is used.<br />

Change <strong>the</strong> LOCAL_PREF value.<br />

• value range: 0 to 4294967295<br />

• Default is 100.<br />

CONFIGURATION Enter <strong>the</strong> ROUTE-MAP mode and<br />

assign a name to a route map.<br />

meeting <strong>the</strong> criteria of this route map.<br />

exit CONFIG-ROUTE-MAP Return to <strong>the</strong> CONFIGURATION mode.<br />

router bgp as-number CONFIGURATION Enter <strong>the</strong> ROUTER BGP mode.<br />

neighbor {ip-address |<br />

peer-group-name} route-map<br />

map-name {in | out}<br />

CONFIG-ROUTER-BGP Apply <strong>the</strong> route map to <strong>the</strong> neighbor or<br />

peer group’s incoming or outgoing<br />
