Per-Port BPDU Block<br />

In metro E<strong>the</strong>rnet and service provider enviornments, protection from o<strong>the</strong>r network nodes flooding<br />

BPDUs accidentally or intentionally to disrupt <strong>the</strong> STP topology. BPDU Guard provides some protection<br />

by shutting down an interface when a violation is detected. The Per-Port BPDU Block feature provides an<br />

alternative solution by dropping incoming BPDUs in hardware when STP is disabled. This feature<br />

maximizes availability by leaving <strong>the</strong> interface enabled and protects <strong>the</strong> RPM CPU.<br />
