Zwei Frauen und ein Mann testen ein schlechtes Tonsystem,
indem sie ›test... one... two…‹ zunehmend lauter
und aggressiver in ein Mikrofon brüllen. Auf dem
Höhepunkt der Hysterie bringt der Lautsprecher einen
hervorragenden Ton hervor, wonach das Trio in einmütiger
Harmonie ein bezauberndes Lied singt.

Two women and a man are testing a bad sound system by
yelling ›test... one... two...‹ in a microphone, increasingly louder
and more aggressive. On the height of hysteria the speaker produces
excellent sound after which the trio, in unanimous harmony,
sing a dazzling song.

Inspiriert durch Stanislav Lems Kurzgeschichten über
den Raumfahrer Ijon Tichy, erzählt der Film ›X‹ ein
skurriles Weltraumabenteuer. Ein Astronaut verliert
seine Einzigartigkeit und muss seine Identität gegenüber
zahlreichen Kopien seiner selbst behaupten. Der Verlust
der Einzigartigkeit und die Frage der Identität stellen
die Thematik des Films, die mittels der humoristischen
Erzählweise des Trickfilms behandelt wird. Die Geschichte
selbst basiert auf einem Gedankenkonstrukt, das sich
dem Zuschauer erst am Ende des Films eröffnet.
Raphael Wahl, *1976 in Stuttgart-Filderstadt, studierte
Visuelle Kommunikation mit Schwerpunkt Trickfilm
an der Kunsthochschule Kassel bei Prof. Paul Driessen
und Prof. Thomas Meyer-Hermann. Dort entstand
2001 auch sein erster Film ›Rapunzel‹. 2005 schloss er
sein Studium mit dem Film ›X‹ ab.
Inspired by Stanislav Lem's short stories about the spaceman
Ijon Tichy, the film ›X‹ tells about a comical space travel adventure.
A spaceman looses his singularity and has now to defend his
identity against countless copies of himself. The Loss of uniqueness
of identity and the problems of identity in general are the subjects
of the film. They are treated in the humorous narrative style of
the animated film. The story itself is based on several ideas of
which the viewer realizes only at the end how they are connected.
Raphael Wahl, *1976 in Stuttgart-Filderstadt, Germany.
In 1998 he started the study of Visual Communication at the
School of Arts and Design in Kassel in the animation class of Prof.
Paul Driessen and Prof. Thomas Meyer-Hermann, where he made
his first film ›Rapunzel‹ (2001). In 2005 final exam with the Film
›X‹.
