die umstrittene Geschichte von Wolfenstein
3d, dem berüchtigten und
berühmten Ego-Shooter-Computerspiel
der 90er Jahre, auszulöschen.
Die Spieler sind dazu aufgerufen, die
Spielmodifikation von allem legal
und moralisch fragwürdigem Inhalt
zu bereinigen.

In 2002, ›tidy your room‹ attempted to
expunge the controversial history of
Wolfenstein 3d, the notorious and highly
popular ego shooter from the 90s. The
players are enjoined to assist in cleaning
the game modification of all legally and
morally questionable content.

Interactive Installation
Luftpolsterfolie hat die Eigenschaft, Menschen dazu zu animieren, die
Luftblasen zerplatzen zu lassen. Wenn ein Besucher das tut, wird das
Geräusch durch ein Mikrofon aufgenommen und gibt ein Signal an das Programm
weiter. Am Anfang sieht der Besucher eine blaue Ranke, die sich über
die Projektionswand bewegt. Wenn er anfängt, die Luftblasen zu zerplatzen,
entstehen kleine Zweige an den Ranken, an denen Blumen wachsen. Wenn
aber ein anderer Besucher durch die Projektion läuft, wird ein gefährlich
aussehendes Cluster erzeugt, das all die schönen Blumen auf der Wand zerstört.
Durch das Zerplatzen von mehreren Luftblasen, kann das Cluster zerstört
werden und Schönheit beherrscht wieder die Projektion. Durch dieses
Konzept von ›good and evil‹, erhält die Installation Eigenschaften eines
Spiels.

Bubble wraps tend to animate people to destroy the bubbles. If a visitor does so, the
sound of the bursting bubbles will be tracked by a microphone, sending an impulse to the
program. At the beginning the visitor will see a blue twine moving across the projection
wall. When he starts bursting the bubble wrap, little scions appear on the screen and
beautiful flowers are created. If another visitor walks through the projection wall and the
bubble wrap, an evil looking cluster will be generated that destroys all the beautiful flowers
on the wall. By bursting more bubbles, the cluster can be destroyed and beauty dominates
the screen again. Through this concept of ›good and evil‹, the installation acquires
the characteristics of a game.
