Portraits‹ über russische Mädchen, ungewöhnlichen Aktdarstellungen
in ›Gestures of Demarcation‹ und intimen
Serien mit ihrer Mutter in ›Liminal Portraits‹ hat sie
Furore gemacht. Die britische Künstlerin Melanie Manchot
gibt in einem Künstlergespräch Einblick in ihr
Werk und stellt Hintergründe der Videoarbeit ›Security‹
vor, die in der Ausstellung des Festivals zu sehen ist.
Melanie Manchot, *1966. Sie studierte Kunst, Erziehungswissenschaften
und Fotografie an der New York
University, City University, London und dem Royal College
of Art, London. Sie lehrt an verschiedenen Universitäten
und Akademien, u. a. am Goldsmith College, University
of London, an der New York University, am Royal
College of Art, London und am Central Saint Martin College
of Art & Design, London. Sie errang zahlreiche
bedeutende internationale Preise und Auszeichnungen:
Chesterton Award; Fuji Award, British Council Award,
John Kobal Photographic Portrait Award, Welde Kunstpreis
sowie Stipendien des Arts Council of England und
des British Council.
She has caused a sensation with her series of photographs and
video installations such as ›Moscow Portraits‹, about Russian
girls, unusual nude portrayals in ›Gestures of Demarcation‹ and
intimate series with her mother in ›Liminal Portraits‹. The British
artist Melanie Manchot gives an insight into her work during an
artist's talk, and describes the background to her video entitled
›Security‹, which will be screened at the festival's exhibition.
Melanie Manchot, *1966. She studied Art, Education and
Photography at New York University, City University, London and
the Royal College of Art, London. M. Manchot teaches at several
academies and universities, including Goldsmith College, University
of London, New York University, Royal College of Art, London
and at Central Saint Martin College of Art & Design, London. She
has received several international awards: Chesterton Award; Fuji
Award, British Council Award, John Kobal Photographic Portrait
Award, Welde Kunstpreis as well as grants from the Arts Council
of England and the British Council.
Der iPod steht als Synonym für den MP3-Player wie
Tempo für das Papiertaschentuch. Seit Anfang 2005 bieten
sich mittels Podcasting völlig neue Distributionswege
für digitale Medieninhalte und die rasche Verbreitung
von videotauglichen Playern öffnet neue Möglichkeiten
auch im visuellen Bereich. Christian Hieber erläutert das
Thema Podcasting und gibt anhand von ausgewählten
Beispielen Ein- und Ausblicke bezüglich der neuen Möglichkeiten.
Christian Hieber ist Werbefachmann mit eigener
Agentur und Dozent an der Merz Akademie Stuttgart.
Zusammen mit Nicolas Oestreich betreibt er das Portal
iPodfun.de und betreut seit 2004 mit dem Audibleblog
auch Deutschlands erstes professionelles Podcast-Projekt.
The iPod is a synonym for MP3 players just as Sellotape stands
for adhesive tape. Ever since the beginning of 2005, podcasting has
been providing completely new channels of distribution for digital
media contents. Also, the rapid spread of players suitable for
videos now opens up a whole range of new opportunities in the
visual area. Christian Hieber explains the subject of podcasting
and, using a number of selected examples, gives an insight into the
new possibilities and their future prospects.
Christian Hieber is an advertising expert who has his own
agency. He also lectures at the Merz Akademie Stuttgart. Together
with Nicolas Oestreich, he operates the portal iPodfun.de and has
been looking after Germany's first professional podcast project
with Audibleblog since 2004.
