AUSSTELLUNG // EXHIBITION
Surreal spatial worlds, swirling landscapes of colour in flowery spiral shapes and disconcertingly glowing shadows determine the visual
world, turned into the negative with relish, of the group of artists called Artists Anonymous. In their paintings, as well as in their
photographs, films, installations and performances, expressiveness is linked to craftsmen's concentration and precision. Their work arises
from an idealistic group concept, similar to the avant-garde tradition of the artists' community whose view on the world and art theory
is reflected in their own manifestos. The objective of their work is to invite viewers into their fantastic universe, to open doors and broaden
perception in visual force fields. The artists invite us to an authentic experience of their artwork, which is not about the issues of reality
or fiction but rather ›about generating energy, communication and life, not about an ego but about the whole thing, … about running
upwards on an endlessly downward moving escalator whilst laughing and shouting.‹ (Katja Albers)
The actions may seem like slapstick or comedy, but evil nuances smoulder below the surface. Everybody laughs about the clown's tragic
pathos, because his misfortune highlight the absurdity of the world. Artists Anonymous' point of view is a similar one, making use of
painting as a medium to let their melancholy mutate into a masterpiece. Artists Anonymous uses its trade mark: performing, in the negative.
They supplement the show by the simultaneous transmission of their performance onto screens inside the arena. The images are
reconverted into the positive, thus evoking a moving reproduction. (Artists Anonymous)
