Ein LKW-Verladeplatz in Südspanien dient ständig
telefonierenden Fernfahrern als Bühne, auf welcher sie
sich gut in Szene zu setzen wissen: Trotz erschwerter
Bedingungen gibt es keinerlei Anzeichen, die Kommunikation
einzustellen. Die Hektik des Platzes spiegelt sich
in der Rhythmik des Videos.
Mirko Martin, *1976 in Sigmaringen. 1999-2001 Ausbildung
zum foto- und medientechnischen Assistenten in
Freiburg/Brsg. Seit 2001 Studium der Freien Kunst an
der HBK Braunschweig bei F. von Stockhausen, Johannes
Brus, Dörte Eißfeldt und Birgit Hein sowie als Gasthörer
bei Katharina Sieverding, UdK Berlin. 2005-2006 Auslandsstudium
(Fulbright-Jahresstipendium) am California
Institute of the Arts, Los Angeles, School of Film &
Video, MFA program.
A loading dock in Southern Spain is the stage for constantly
telephoning truck drivers. Despite difficult conditions they show
no signs of abandoning communication. The hectic activity at the
site is reflected in the rhythm of the videos.
Mirko Martin, *1976 in Sigmaringen, Germany. 1999-2001
vocational training as a photographer in Freiburg, Germany. Since
2001 study of Fine Arts at the Braunschweig School of Arts, Germany,
with F. v. Stockhausen, Johannes Brus, Dörte Eißfeldt, Birgit
Hein and with Katharina Sieverding at the UdK Berlin. 2005-
2006 Exchange year (Fulbright scholarship) at California Institute
of the Arts, Los Angeles, School of Film & Video, MFA program.

Ein Dokumentarfilm - in einer einzigen Einstellung
gedreht - über zwei italienische Polizeibeamte, die auf
die Beendigung ihrer unbequemen Situation warten.
Jan de Bruin, *1977 in Delft. 2002 machte er seinen
Abschluss an der Kunsthochschule St. Joost in Breda.
Nach dem Studium hat er sich vor allem mit der Produktion
kurzer, persönlicher Dokumentationen befasst. Die
letzten zwei Jahre hat er mit der Unterstützung der
Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts an dem Projekt
›In America‹ gearbeitet, woraus eine Reihe von kurzen
Beiträgen im Dokumentarstil hervorgingen. Heute reist
er mit der Kamera durch Europa und beobachtet das
unbemerkte ›Theater der Realität‹. Seine letzte Arbeit
Waiting for Felipe drehte er im September 2005 in Mailand,
Italien.
A one shot documentary film about two Italian police officers
waiting for the end of their own inconvenience.
Jan de Bruin, *1977 in Delft. Graduated in 2002 at the
Dutch art school St. Joost in Breda. After his graduation he devoted
himself to the making of personal short documentaries. For the
last two years he has committed himself to the ›In America‹ project
with the support of the Netherlands Foundation for Visual
Arts which resulted in a couple of short documentary based pieces.
Nowadays he travels around Europe with his camera to film the
unspectable theatre of reality. The last work Waiting for Felipe
was shot in September 2005 in Milano, Italy.
