Als erste Dachorganisation wurde 2006 die estnische<br />
Media Artists Union (MARTU) gegründet, um eine Plattform<br />
für Aktivitäten und eine Interessengemeinschaft<br />
für Medienkünstler zu bilden. Der Hauptgrund für die<br />
Gründung von MARTU war, Wege zu finden, um die<br />
Medienkunst und kulturelle Praktiken in der Öffentlichkeit<br />
besser darzustellen und um mit einer gemeinsamen<br />
Sprache zu sprechen. MARTU hat ein Studio für die praktischen<br />
Arbeiten und als Treffpunkt für estnische, internationale<br />
Medienkünstler und andere interessierte<br />
Gruppen gebaut, das MediaLab Tallinn.<br />
Die Aktivitäten des MediaLab Tallinn reichen von<br />
Workshops für Künstler, Kinder und andere über<br />
Medienkunst-Veröffentlichungen und die Unterstützung<br />
von digitalen Veranstaltungen bis hin zu Galerien für<br />
Medienkunstausstellungen. Das MediaLab Tallinn ist<br />
auch ein Kommunikationszentrum für estnische digitale<br />
Kunst und vermittelt Kontakte zu anderen Institutionen<br />
und Medienkünstlern.Das MediaLab Tallinn befindet<br />
sich auf der zweiten Etage des Culture Factory Polymer.<br />
Established in 2006 Estonian Media Artists Union (MARTU) is<br />
first umbrella organization for media artists in Estonia providing<br />
a platform for their activities and trying to meet their needs. Main<br />
reason to establish MARTU was to find ways how to make media<br />
arts and cultural practices more visible and recognized, to give<br />
them unified voice in Estonian society. MARTU has created MediaLab<br />
Tallinn - a studio for practice and meeting space for Estonian<br />
and international media artists and other interested parties.<br />
The activities of MediaLab Tallinn will cover range of workshops<br />
for artists, children and others; media-art publications and<br />
events promoting digital culture in Estonia; as well as a gallery<br />
space for media art exhibits. MediaLab Tallinn acts also as an<br />
access point for Estonian digital art, mediating contacts to other<br />
institutions and media artists. MediaLab Tallinn is based on the<br />
second floor of the Culture Factory Polymer.<br />
