›Stella Polare‹ springt zwischen einzelnen geschichtlichen Ereignissen einer ungenannten europäischen Hafenstadt
hin und her. An einem Sommerabend findet sich der nicht sichtbare Protagonist auf einem Landungssteg wieder.
Er schaut den vorbeiziehenden Menschen zu und versucht seine Gedanken, seine Erinnerungen und katastrophalen
Momente zu ordnen. Er leiht sich von den fiktiven Menschen auf dem Landungssteg Bilder und Worte und
erfindet die Erinnerungen an große Reiche, Krieg, Terror, Widerstand und Liebe neu. Durch die grundlegende Zeitlosigkeit
und die Ortsveränderung des Protagonisten wird die Vergangenheit brutal in die Gegenwart gezerrt. Er bleibt
bewusst am Rande der Welt - ein stiller Beobachter der Menschen und des Konsumverhaltens.
Anthea Kennedy, *1952 in London, studierte Bildende Kunst an der Chelsea School of Art und der Leeds Polytechnic.
Sie schloss ihre Ausbildung in Film am Royal College of Art, School of Film and Television in London ab. Sie
arbeitet seit 1985 als Filmeditor mit Stephen Dwoskin und trat 1990 in seinem Film ›Face Anthea‹ auf. Sie ist Dozentin
für Film in London. Ihre Filme wurden auf zahlreichen internationalen Festivals gezeigt, das EMAF zeigte 2002
ihren Film ›The Bag of a Thousand Pockets‹.
Ian Wiblin studierte Grafik-Design am London College of Printing und arbeitet seit 1989 als Fotograf. Er hatte verschiedene
fotografische Aufenthalte in Polen, Italien, Israel, der Slowakei und Frankreich. Wiblin hatte verschiedene
Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen für Film in London (Photographers' Gallery), Berlin, Paris, Tel Aviv etc. 1996 veröffentlichte
er seinen Bildband: Night Watch. Er war für Stephen Dwoskin bei ›Pain Is‹ Kameramann. Er ist Dozent für
Fotografie an der University of Glamorgan, Wales.
›Stella Polare‹ navigates unreliably between points in the history of an unnamed port city, somewhere in old Europe. On a summer
evening, an unseen protagonist finds himself on a jetty watching the people as they stroll up and down. He is trying to piece things
together, things he remembers, moments of cataclysm. He borrows images and words from the imaginary people he meets on the jetty,
reinventing memories of empire, war, terror, resistance and love. The past is pulled violently into the present through the essential timelessness
and sense of dislocation experienced by the protagonist. He remains resolutely on the periphery of this world - a silent observer of
the passage of people and the flow of consumerism.
Anthea Kennedy (1952, London) studied Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art and Leeds Polytechnic and completed her film training
at the Royal College of Art, School of Film and Television in London. She has been working as film editor with Stephen Dwoskin since
1985 and performed in his film Face Anthea in 1990. She is a lecturer in film in London. Her films have been screened at various international
festivals, EMAF showed her The Bag of a Thousand Pockets in 2002.
Ian Wiblin studied graphic design at the London College of Printing and has been working as a photographer since 1989. He had
various photographic residencies in Poland, Italy, Israel, Slovakia and France. Wiblin had various solo and group photography exhibitions
in London (Photographers' Gallery), Berlin, Paris, Tel Aviv, etc. 1996 publication of his photography book: Night Watch. 1996. He
was cameraman for Stephen Dwoskin for Pain Is. He is lecturer in Photography at the University of Glamorgan, Wales.
