TANK.TV
tank.tv is an inspirational showcase of contemporary moving image. It is dedicated to exhibiting moving images in a free and accessible
way. Created by Tank Magazine in 2003 as an online gallery space, www.tank.tv presents a range of films by established and emerging
artists. In this way tank.tv acts as a platform for new and innovative works in film and video.
Always seeking innovation, creativity, and a challenge to the established conventions of film and video, tank.tv has gathered an
impressive collection of contemporary experiments in moving images, all of which are three minutes long, or less. It has removed experimental
video art from the constraints of the art gallery, and brought it to the desktop of anyone and everyone with a few minutes to
spare for a dose for inspiration.
Work featured ranges from the narrative to the experimental, film, video, found footage, animation, digitally manipulated and documentary.
Every month a new ›theme‹ is introduced, a new exhibition is curated, and a new collection of pieces is available on the website.
Subscribers to the website can access the archive, which holds the entire collection of movies ever shown on tank.tv. The only constraint is
the length: 3 minutes at most. The website is easily accessible, and navigation is simple and straightforward.
Given the amount of short films produced annually, finding compelling content is a challenge. However, the short films, video pieces
and abstract moving images on tank.tv are all of exceptional quality, ›of shockingly good quality‹ (Francesca Gavin, BBC-Collective).
