EMISSION UNIT SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTSLB.3 Coating, <strong>Clean</strong>ing, and Depainting Operations<strong>Permit</strong> No. 13120Expiration Date: September 12, 2013Page 65 of 291EU 3. 125 PSD #91-06,Amendment2, Condition#7,6/13/05Spray guns and hoses will be cleaned by one or moreof the following, or equivalent methods that areapproved by the <strong>Puget</strong> <strong>Sound</strong> <strong>Clean</strong> <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Agency</strong>:I. Enclosed system:<strong>Clean</strong> the spray gun in an enclosed system that isclosed at all times except when inserting or removingthe spray gun. <strong>Clean</strong>ing shall consist offorcingsolvent through the gun.2. Nonatomized cleaning:<strong>Clean</strong> the spray gun by placing cleaning solvent in thepressure pot and forcing it through the gun with theatomizing cap in place. No atomizing air is to beused. Direct the cleaning solvent from the spray guninto a vat, drum, or other waste container that is closedwhen not in use.3. Disassembled spray gun cleaning:Disassemble the spray gun and clean the componentsby hand in a vat, which shall remain closed at all timesexcept when in use. Alternatively, soak thecomponents in a vat, which shall remain closed duringthe soaking period and when not inserting or removingcomponents.4. Atomized cleaning:<strong>Clean</strong> the spray gun by forcing the cleaning solventthrough the gun. Direct the resulting atomized sprayinto a waste container that is fitted with a devicedesigned to capture the atomized cleaning solventemissions.5. Nozzle tips on automated and robotic systems shallbe programmed to spray into a closed container wherethat is an element of their designed capability.6.
