Foreign Aid Assistance<br />

Foreign aid assistance to the DOD is reflected in Appendix B.<br />

Policy Developments<br />

New Policies and Legislation: <strong>Defence</strong> Foreign Relations rendered assistance and support to the Policy<br />

and Planning Division with the compilation <strong>of</strong> a Ministerial Directive for procedures pertaining to the<br />

access <strong>of</strong> foreign military vessels and certain other vessels to the territorial and internal waters and ports <strong>of</strong><br />

South Africa, and related multinational exercises.<br />

Services to be Scaled Down, Suspended or Abolished During FY 2007/08<br />

DFR had no scaling down planned for the financial year and none occurred, including no suspension,<br />

abolishment or Force Structure Elements being closed down. The <strong>Defence</strong> Foreign Relations function was,<br />

however, transferred from Corporate Staff Division to <strong>Defence</strong> Intelligence for command and control<br />

purposes and will be reported on under the Subp<strong>rogramme</strong> <strong>Defence</strong> Intelligence in future.<br />
