The diversity and non-standardisation
of Information and Communication
Systems (ICS) systems in the DOD
Phased implementation of information
systems that serves the defence function
and is linked to the implementation of
the National Information and Finance
Management System
The DOD’s ICS optimisation is enabled
through the DEIS Master Plan that
was approved and is in the process of
implementation/rollout. The National
Treasury provided an additional Rm60
for this endeavour in FY 2007/08. The
implementation/rollout of this initiative
is a multiyear programme. Additional
funds were also provided for the outer
years of the programme. The targets for
FY 2007/08 have been achieved.
However, the real outcome of this
initiative will only become visible in the
medium to long term.
