SAMHS-Specific Exercises Conducted During FY 2007/08<br />

Accredited nursing training: A total <strong>of</strong><br />

216 learners <strong>of</strong> the planned 280 diploma<br />

students (year one to four) qualified. The<br />

pass rate for the group that completed<br />

their studies in December 2007 was 95%.<br />

Twelve learners did not qualify. The number<br />

<strong>of</strong> pupil-enrolled nurses was 85, with an<br />

average pass rate <strong>of</strong> 94%. The percentage<br />

and number <strong>of</strong> specialised nursing diploma<br />

students was not available at the time <strong>of</strong><br />

compiling the report. The results from the<br />

South African Nursing Council are expected<br />

in April 2008.<br />

Details <strong>of</strong> the SAMHS-specific exercises conducted during FY 2007/08 are reflected in Table 7.2.<br />

Risks and Mitigation Actions for FY 2007/08<br />

The exercise was successfully executed over the period 27<br />

September to 11 November 2007 at the SA Army Combat<br />

Training Centre in Lohatlha. Valuable training took place and<br />

lessons learned will be implemented.<br />

The Chemical Biological Wing <strong>of</strong> 7 Medical Battalion Group<br />

executed the exercise at the Ditholo training area near Bela<br />

Bela over the period 27 August to 7 September 2007. The<br />

exercise was successfully executed. The testing and evaluation<br />

<strong>of</strong> equipment under development took place.<br />

The report on the Military Health Support P<strong>rogramme</strong>’s risks and mitigation actions, as contained in the<br />

Strategic Business Plan FY 2007/08, is reflected in Table7. 3.<br />
