Directorate: HR Strategic Direction<br />

and Policy coordinated the HR inputs<br />

for <strong>Chapter</strong> VI (<strong>Defence</strong> Resources) <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Defence</strong> Update 2006. The Minister <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Defence</strong> has approved the document.<br />

DOD policies on service delivery<br />

are being aligned with Government<br />

prescripts.<br />

The HR section <strong>of</strong> the DOD<br />

Environmental Analyses was completed<br />

and approved in 2007. DOD<br />

Planning Instruction completed and<br />

promulgated for FY 2008/09 DOD<br />

HR Support Plans. HR functionaries<br />

were empowered though presenting<br />

HR planning modules at Personnel<br />

Service School during FY 2007/08 HR<br />

EOE.<br />

Obtained Presidential authorisation<br />

and Cabinet approval for deployment<br />

<strong>of</strong> a maximum <strong>of</strong> 85 members <strong>of</strong> the<br />

SANDF to assist with capacity building<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Central African Republic (CAR)<br />

<strong>Defence</strong> Force and to provide close<br />

protection to the CAR President<br />

(Presidential Minute 467 <strong>of</strong> 2007,<br />

dated 27 August 2007, and Cabinet<br />

Memorandum 18 <strong>of</strong> 2007, dated<br />

29 August 2007).<br />

Obtained Presidential approval for<br />

42 SANDF members’ participation<br />

in Operation FESTIVE SEASON,<br />

support to the SAPS during the<br />

2007/2008 festive season in the<br />

combating <strong>of</strong> crime (Presidential<br />

Minute 630 <strong>of</strong> 2007, dated<br />

12 November 2007).<br />

Obtained Presidential authorisation<br />

for deployment <strong>of</strong> 120 members<br />

<strong>of</strong> the SANDF to assist SAPS with<br />

the security at the FIFA World Cup<br />

preliminary draw (Presidential Minute<br />

648 <strong>of</strong> 2007, dated 16 November<br />

2007).<br />
