The mission <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Defence</strong> Reserves Office is: “To direct the development and maintenance <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Reserve System, to provide specialist advice on Reserve matters and to promote/market the Reserves and<br />

the volunteer Reserve System.”<br />

This mission is being achieved with the active support <strong>of</strong> the Ministry <strong>of</strong> <strong>Defence</strong>, the Secretary for <strong>Defence</strong>,<br />

C SANDF, Chief <strong>of</strong> Corporate Staff and the Service and Division Chiefs.<br />

Confirmation <strong>of</strong> progress is the ever-increasing utilisation <strong>of</strong> Reserves in peace support operations,<br />

borderline control and in providing support to the people.<br />
