Section 5 DLP-5 <strong>ATLAS</strong> <strong>550</strong> <strong>System</strong> <strong>Manual</strong><br />

Perform the following steps in the order listed.<br />

1. Connect to the <strong>ATLAS</strong> <strong>550</strong> using either the ADMIN, CRAFT, or ETHERNET interfaces.<br />

If you are not already connected to the unit’s ADMIN or CRAFT interfaces (either with a<br />

VT100 compatible terminal or with a PC running VT100 emulation software), follow the procedure in<br />

DLP-1, Connecting a VT100 Terminal or PC to the ADMIN or CRAFT Port.<br />

Alternatively, if the unit is part of a management cluster connected to the local network, you may use a<br />

PC connected to the network to Telnet into the unit. Use the procedures in DLP-3, Setting IP<br />

Parameters for the <strong>ATLAS</strong> <strong>550</strong>, to connect to the ETHERNET interface.<br />

2. Log in to the unit using the read-write password (see DLP-2 for details).<br />

3. Go to the SYSTEM CONFIG menu, select the ACCESS PASSWORDS menu, and press .<br />

4. Add a new user profile and password by select the first column (0) and pressing I (for insert).<br />

5. Give the new user profile a name by selecting the LABEL field, pressing , and typing the<br />

user-defined name.<br />

6. Personalize the password for the appropriate label by selecting the PASSWORD field, pressing ,<br />

and then typing the appropriate password.<br />

7. Determine the password level for the corresponding label.<br />

The <strong>ATLAS</strong> <strong>550</strong> contains six different password levels. The following chart gives a brief description<br />

of each level.<br />

8. Assign the password level to the appropriate label by selecting the ACCESS RIGHTS field and choosing<br />

the level decided upon in step 7.<br />

Passwords for the <strong>ATLAS</strong> <strong>550</strong> system are case sensitive. The default password for a new user profile is<br />

“password.” The current password displays as a series of asterisks (********).<br />
