Be careful not to upset the stability of the equipment mounting rack when installing this
product.
Wallmounting ATLAS 550
Follow these steps to wallmount the ATLAS 550:
19/23-inch Rackmount Installation
Step Action
1. Attach the mounting brackets to the sides of the chassis. (19-inch rackmount brackets
and screws are included in the shipment; 23-inch brackets are available from ADTRAN -
P/N 3265379-2@C).
To avoid damaging the unit, use only the screws included in the shipment when attaching
mounting ears to the chassis.
2. Position the ATLAS 550 in a stationary equipment rack. To allow proper grounding, scrape
the paint from the rack around the mounting holes where the ATLAS 550 will be positioned.
3. Have someone else hold the unit in position as you install two mounting bolts through the
unit’s brackets and into the equipment rack using a #2 Phillips-head screwdriver.
4. Proceed to the steps given in Supplying Power to the Unit on page 56.
Wallmount Installation
Step Action
1. Attach the wallmount brackets to the sides of the chassis. (Wallmount brackets are
the same as 19-inch rackmount brackets and are included in the shipment.)
To avoid damaging the unit, use only the screws included in the shipment when
attaching mounting ears to the chassis.
2. Disconnect all four rubber feet from the bottom of the chassis. (Remove screws using
a Phillips-head screwdriver.)
3. Decide on a location for the ATLAS 550. Keep in mind that the unit needs to be
mounted at or below eye-level so that the LEDs are viewable.
IMPORTANT! Mount the chassis with LEDs facing to the side as shown in Figure 1 on
page 55 (not facing up or down).
4. Prepare the mounting surface by attaching a board (typically plywood, 3/4” to 1” thick)
to a wall stud.
IMPORTANT! Mounting to a stud ensures stability. Using sheetrock anchors may not
provide sufficient long-term stability.
