Having conducted the review of Brazil on 11 April in conformity with all the
relevant provisions contained in Council resolution 5/1;
Adopts the outcome of the universal periodic review on Brazil which is constituted
of the report of the Working Group on the review of Brazil (A/HRC/8/27),
together with the views of Brazil concerning the recommendations and/or
conclusions, as well as its voluntary commitments and its replies presented
before the adoption of the outcome by the plenary to questions or issues that
were not sufficiently addressed during the interactive dialogue in the Working
Group (A/HRC/8/52 chap. VI).

Pergunta: Como funciona a UPR e como ela avalia o procedimento
Em geral, assume-se que a verificação do cumprimento das obrigações e
compromissos assumidos pelos Estados está no campo dos direitos humanos. Essa
verificação segue-se na base de um mecanismo cooperativo de diálogo interativo,
com plena participação dos países envolvidos. Além disso, o Conselho contribui, por
meio de diálogo e cooperação, para a prevenção de violações dos direitos humanos e é
obrigado a reagir rapidamente a situações de emergência relativas a direitos humanos.
Procedimentos especiais:
O conselho tem poderes, portanto, para aplicar procedimentos especiais a
determinados temas relevantes de direitos humanos. A instituição de um relator
especial temático é uma possibilidade. Atualmente, existem 30 tópicos:
