City Clerk File No. Res. 09~ 752_Agenda No.Approved:TITLE:lO.Z.24SEP 0 9 2009RESOLUTION CONGRATULATINGHEATH SLOCUM,WINNER OF THE BARCLA YS PGA TOURNAMENTCOUNCIL AS A WHOLE, offered and moved adoption of the following resolution:WHEREAS, Heath Slocum was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on February 3,1974 andjoinedthe Professional Golfers' Tour in 1996 after his graduation from the University of South Alabama;andWHEREAS, Heath Slocum, known in golf circles as a finesse player with a good putting game,competed in The Barclays, the first Professional Golfers Association tournament to be played atLibert National Golf Course in Jersey City; andWHEREAS, after making the initial cut, Slocum masterfully played the undulating and unforgivinggreens, sinking a twenty five foot birdie at Hole No.2, the toughest par 3 at Libert National; andWHEREAS, Heath Slocum fended off some of the best golfers in the world to remain in the leadon the last day. Tiger Woods was knocking at his door, but, Slocums' steady play was enough towin The Barclays, finishing at a nine under 275 for the tournament, giving him the biggest win ofhis career; andWHEREAS, Heath Slocum's dramatic win was a good story for The Barclays, Liberty NationalGolf Course and the City of Jersey City.
