Resolution of the <strong>City</strong> of <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong>, N.J.<strong>City</strong> Clerk File No. Res. 09-757Agenda No.1O.Z.29Approved: SEP 0 9 2009TITLE:RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE AWAR OF A CONTRACT TOENGLISH PAVING CO., INC., FOR RESURFACING OF THREE (3)STREETS, DANFORTH, WESTSIDE, AND GARFIELD AVENUES,PROJECT NO. 08-031 FOR THE DEPARTMENT OFADMINISTRATION, DIVISION OF ENGINEERING, TRAFIC ANDTRASPORTATIONCOUNCIL AS A WHOLE OFFERED AND MOVED ADOPTIONOF THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION:WHEREAS, the <strong>City</strong> Purchasing Agent actig with his authority and in conformity with N.JS.A.40A:11-1 et. seq. has publicly advertised for bids for Resurfacig of Three (3) Streets, Danforth,Westside and Garfield Avenues, Project No. 08-031 for the Department of Admstration, Division ofEngieerig, Traffic and Transportation pursuant to constrction plans and specifications and bidsthereon; andWHEREAS, the <strong>City</strong> of<strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> (<strong>City</strong>) received six bids on May 19, 2009; andWHEREAS, after receivig the bids, the Division of Engieerig dicovered that a contractor ofthe <strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> Municipal Utities Authority aCMUA) is performg work for the JCMUA involvigthe cleanig and cement lig of water mas on portions of Garfield Avenue; andWHEREAS, the JCMUA project involves openig and excavatig streets to access water mais andvalves and instag bypass piping along the curb lies; andWHERÉAS, it is estiated that the JCMUA project wi prevent the resurfacing of GarfieldAvenue for approxiately four months; andWHEREAS, the State grant for Project No. 08-031 requies that all thee streets be included in thesame bid specifications; andWHEREAS, the Division of Engieerig, Traffic and Transporttion has decided to bifucate thsproject, with Phase I work to consist of the resurfacing of Danforth and Westside Avenues to begias soon as the contract is awarded; and the Phase II work to consist of the resurfacing of GafieldAvenue to begi no later than four months after the notice to proceed is issued: andWHEREAS, pursuant to public advertiement, the <strong>City</strong> of<strong>Jersey</strong> <strong>City</strong> has received Six (6) bids, thelowest beig that of English Pavig Co., Inc., 650 Route 46 West. Clifton, New <strong>Jersey</strong>, 07013, in thetota base bid amount of One Mion, One Hundred Eighteen Thousand and Nine Hundred NinetyFive Dolls and Fifty Five Cents ($1,118,995.55); andBIDDER1.
