3Installation precautionsCAUTIONEnsure that the device does not overload the power circuits, wiring, <strong>and</strong> over-current protection.To determine the possibility of overloading the supply circuits, add the ampere (amp) ratings of alldevices installed on the same circuit as the device. Compare this total with the rating limit for thecircuit. The maximum ampere ratings are usually printed on the devices near the input powerconnectors.CAUTION<strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>MLX</strong> 4-, 8-, 16-, <strong>and</strong> 32-slot devices with DC power sources are intended for installationin restricted access areas only. A restricted access area is where access can be gained only byservice personnel through the use of a special tool, lock <strong>and</strong> key, or other means of security, <strong>and</strong>is controlled by the authority responsible for the location.CAUTIONAll devices with AC power sources are intended for installation in restricted access areas only. Arestricted access area is a location where access can be gained only by service personnelthrough the use of a special tool, lock <strong>and</strong> key, or other means of security.CAUTIONFor the DC input circuit to the system of <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>MLX</strong>-4, <strong>MLX</strong>-8 <strong>and</strong> <strong>MLX</strong>-16 routers (1200Wsupply), make sure there is a 40 amp circuit breaker, minimum -48VDC, double pole, on the inputlugs to the power supply. The input wiring for connection to the product should be copper wire, 8AWG, marked VW-1, <strong>and</strong> rated minimum 90 C.CAUTIONFor the DC input circuit to the system of a <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>MLX</strong>-32 router (2400W supply), make surethere is a 75 amp circuit breaker, minimum -48VDC, double pole, on the input lugs to the powersupply. The input wiring for connection to the product should be copper wire, 4 AWG, markedVW-1, <strong>and</strong> rated minimum 90 C.CAUTIONFor the NEBS-compliant installation of <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>MLX</strong>e-4, <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>MLX</strong>e--8, <strong>and</strong> <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>MLX</strong>e-16routers with AC <strong>and</strong> DC systems, use a ground wire of at least 6 American Wire Gauge (AWG). Theground wire should have an agency-approved crimped connector (provided with the device)attached to one end, with the other end attached to building ground.
