Installing a <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>NetIron</strong> <strong>XMR</strong> 16000 router 4Before installing a module in the <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>NetIron</strong> <strong>XMR</strong> 16000 router, have these items available:• A large flat-blade screwdriver.• An ESD wrist strap with a plug for connection to the ESD connector on the router.DANGERFor safety reasons, the ESD wrist strap should contain a 1 megohm series resistor.CAUTIONIf you are hot-swapping a module, allow a minimum of two seconds after a module (or powersupply or fan tray) has been removed before inserting a module in the same slot.NOTEFor 16-slot devices, if you insert a module into a slot where the fan speed for a previous module wasmanually configured, you will need to change the fan speed back to auto. For example, if the fanspeed was manually configured to “slow”, <strong>and</strong> you are installing a module that requires more coolingpower, the “slow” setting will cause the module to overheat. To configure the fan speed to auto, enterthe following comm<strong>and</strong>:<strong>Brocade</strong># conf t<strong>Brocade</strong># set-fan-speed autoSyntax: set-fan-speed autoFollow these steps to install a module in the <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>NetIron</strong> <strong>XMR</strong> 16000 router.1. Put on the ESD wrist strap <strong>and</strong> ground yourself by inserting the plug into the ESD connector onthe router.2. Remove the module from the packaging.3. With the ejectors rotated away from the module faceplate, insert the module into the slot (refer<strong>and</strong> slide the module along the card guide until the ejectors rotate towards the modulefaceplate.NOTEWhen inserting the module into the router, make sure that the faceplate doesn’t overlap withthe faceplate of an adjacent interface module.4.
