For example, if you install the Brocade NetIron XMR module in anotherBrocade device or install a module intended for another Brocade device in the Brocade NetIron XMRrouter, the router and module will not function properly.Although management modules are designed to be hot-swappable, you must upgrade the softwareon all interface modules and management modules to the appropriate software release beforeinstalling them. Before you install amodule in a slot, you must remove the slot blank.CAUTIONIf you do not install a module in a slot, you must keep the slot blank in place. If you operate therouter with an uncovered slot, the system may overheat. Tighten the screws that secure the slotblanks so that they remain in place when removing adjacent panels or modules.Although slot blanks differ in size, the procedure for removing them is the same. You will need aflat-blade screwdriver to perform this task.Follow the steps to remove a slot blank.1. Loosen the screws on either end of the slot blank by hand or with a flat blade screwdriver.2.
