4Installing a Brocade NetIron XMR 8000 routerInstalling Brocade NetIron XMR 8000 router power suppliesYou will need a small Phillips screwdriver to install power supplies.Follow these steps to install a power supply in the Brocade NetIron XMR 8000 router.1. Remove the power supply slot blank.2. Remove the power supply from the packaging.3. Insert the power supply into the slot, using the guides provided on either side of the slot.CAUTIONCarefully follow the mechanical guides on each side of the power supply slot and make sure thepower supply is properly inserted in the guides. Push the power supply toward the back of the router until the power supply connector engagesthe backplane connector.5. Pull the handle on the power supply front panel up to lock the power supply in place.6. Installing a Brocade NetIron XMR 8000 router 4NOTEFor the NEBS-compliant installation, AC power connections must use a surge protection device(SPD) to protect AC power supplies from damage due to excessive power line surges.Follow these steps to connect AC power source.1. Locate the power receptacle on the back panel of the router.2. Lift the cord retainer and connect an AC power cord to the power supply.3.
