Installing a <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>NetIron</strong> <strong>XMR</strong> 4000 router 4Follow these steps to connect DC power source:NOTEDue to multiple power supply vendors, the layout of the LEDs on your DC power supply may differfrom what is shown in Figure 174, but their function is the same.1. Use a #1 Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the transparent cover overthe power supply lugs, as shown in Figure 174. Use a #2 Phillips screwdriver to remove the power lugs, as shown in Figure 174.3. Crimp #8 AWG power supply wire into the power lugs <strong>and</strong> reconnect the lugs to the powersupply unit.CAUTIONFor the NEBS-compliant installation of a <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>NetIron</strong> <strong>XMR</strong> 4000, 8000, <strong>and</strong> 16000 routerswith AC <strong>and</strong> DC systems, use a ground wire of at least 6 American Wire Gauge (AWG). The groundwire should have an agency-approved crimped connector (provided with the device) attached toone end, with the other end attached to building ground. The connector must be crimped with theproper tool, allowing it to be connected to both ground screws on the enclosure. Before crimpingthe ground wire into the provided ground lug, insure the bare copper wire has been cleaned <strong>and</strong>antioxidant is applied to the bare wire.CAUTIONTo ensure adequate bonding when attaching the ground lug, a minimum of 20 PSI of torque isrequired to be applied to the mounting hardware used to attach the ground lug.<strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>MLX</strong> <strong>Series</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>NetIron</strong> <strong>XMR</strong> <strong>Hardware</strong> Installation Guide 25153-1002373-02
