4Installation precautionsCAUTIONEnsure that the router does not overload the power circuits, wiring, <strong>and</strong> over-current protection.To determine the possibility of overloading the supply circuits, add the ampere (amp) ratings of allrouters installed on the same circuit as the router. Compare this total with the rating limit for thecircuit. The maximum ampere ratings are usually printed on the devices near the input powerconnectors.CAUTION<strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>NetIron</strong> <strong>XMR</strong> 4000, 8000 16000, <strong>and</strong> 32000 routers with DC power sources areintended for installation in restricted access areas only. A restricted access area is where accesscan be gained only by service personnel through the use of a special tool, lock <strong>and</strong> key, or othermeans of security, <strong>and</strong> is controlled by the authority responsible for the location.CAUTION<strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>NetIron</strong> <strong>XMR</strong> 32000 routers with AC power sources are intended for installation inrestricted access areas only. A restricted access area is a location where access can be gainedonly by service personnel through the use of a special tool, lock <strong>and</strong> key, or other means ofsecurity.CAUTIONFor the DC input circuit to the system of <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>NetIron</strong> <strong>XMR</strong> 4000, 8000, <strong>and</strong> 16000 routers(1200W supply), make sure there is a 30 amp circuit breaker, minimum -48Vdc, double pole, onthe input lugs to the power supply. The input wiring for connection to the product should becopper wire,#8 AWG for 1200W power supply <strong>and</strong> #6 AWG for 1800W power supply, markedVW-1, <strong>and</strong> rated minimum 90o C.CAUTIONFor the DC input circuit to the system of a <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>NetIron</strong> <strong>XMR</strong> 32000 router (2400W supply)make sure there is a 75 amp circuit breaker, minimum -48Vdc, double pole, on the input lugs tothe power supply. The input wiring for connection to the product should be copper wire, 4 AWG,marked VW-1, <strong>and</strong> rated minimum 90 C.CAUTIONFor the NEBS-compliant installation of a <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>NetIron</strong> <strong>XMR</strong> 4000, 8000, <strong>and</strong> 16000 routerswith AC <strong>and</strong> DC systems, use a ground wire of at least 6 American Wire Gauge (AWG). The groundwire should have an agency-approved crimped connector (provided with the device) attached toone end, with the other end attached to building ground.
