Installing a <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>MLX</strong>-16 router 3CAUTIONCarefully follow the mechanical guides on each side of the power supply slot <strong>and</strong> make sure thepower supply is properly inserted in the guides. Never insert the power supply upside down.4. Push the power supply front panel toward the back of the router. This action causes the powersupply connector to engage the backplane connector.NOTEDo not overtighten screws when installing power supplies.5. For information about connecting power to the router, refer to “Connecting AC power”.6. For information about powering on the system, refer to “Activating the power source” onpage 228.Connecting AC powerAC power is supplied through a power cord connected to the power supply in the <strong>Brocade</strong> <strong>MLX</strong>-16router. Follow these steps to connect AC power.NOTEFor the NEBS-compliant installation, AC power connections must use a surge protection device(SPD) to protect the AC power supplies from damage due to excessive power line surges.Follow these steps to connect AC power to your router.1. Locate the power supply AC Inlet at the bottom rear of chassis for the associated installedpower supply as shown in Figure 132.2. Lift the cord-retainer <strong>and</strong> connect an AC power cord to the power supply. Refer to Figure 132.3.
