.In view of the fact.that the aid to ex-service men is rapidly
increasing, and of the necessity of giving more attention to their needs, and
welfare, I hereby recommend the establishment of the position of Soldier's
Relief Commissioner, on a full time basis, whose duty shall be to administer
soldier ! s relief, investigate claims for aid, take care of compensation, insurance,
hospitalization, and all other matters affecting ex-service men.
This is in line with action taken by other Municipalities in the Commonwealth
The sum of $2500. has been appropriated in the budget as a
salary for the aforesaid Commissioner.
