hereby requested to consider the advisability <strong>of</strong> installing a "White Way"<br />

system <strong>of</strong> street lighting in Ball square.<br />

Alderman Gobron <strong>of</strong>fered the following order,<br />

The Committee on Public Safety is hereby re-<br />

quested to ask Constable Edmon V/illiama to appear before the committee to<br />

show cause why his authority to act as constable <strong>of</strong> the city <strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong><br />

should not be revoked.<br />

Alderman Knox <strong>of</strong>fered the following order,<br />

His honor the Mayor is hereby requested^jto con-<br />

sider the advisability <strong>of</strong> declaring a municipal holiday on Tuesday, October<br />

7. 1930, which is the day <strong>of</strong> the American Legion parade.<br />

Question came on the adoption <strong>of</strong> the order. Aid. Gobron made<br />

an amendment "that the Mayor request the business men <strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong> to ob-<br />

serve the day as a holiday". Alderman Knox <strong>of</strong>fered an amendment "that em-<br />

ployees <strong>of</strong> the city <strong>of</strong> <strong>Somerville</strong> be given a holiday without loss <strong>of</strong> pay".<br />

Alderman Gobron allowed Alderman Knox's amendment to become a part <strong>of</strong> his<br />

and this amendment was adopted.<br />

The order was then adopted with the amendment.<br />

Alderman Moran <strong>of</strong>fered the following orders,<br />

That brick sidewalk on Linwood street between<br />

Poplar street and Congress place be replaced by a cement sidewalk and charged<br />

to Sidewalk Maintenance Account.<br />
